Tree Carvings

I must have walked past this tree trunk 100s of times in the last 17 years. I have never previously noticed the initials carved into the bark. And I thought I was observant!

I did see a stoat run across our path, twice, but failed miserably to even capture a blur from his/her coat. Again the 1st time in 17 years I've seen this type of animal on one of our most frequently used walks.
