HMS Gurkha - Seychelles

Like many of us today I have been watching the celebration of the 75th anniversary of  D-Day, on the television and it brought memories to me of a day in 1963 when I was a young Royal Marine on HMS Gurkha and we were assigned to take no less then the former Allied Supreme Commander and former American President, Dwight D Eisenhower, who was joined by the famous American TV reporter Walter Cronkite. and television crews while Eisenhower gave details of his memories of the landings on the beaches in France  The result was a American TV film 
called "D-Day plus 20" which was to be produced for the following  year
