Campfire Cooking is go!

Our new youth worker, Becci, comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in everything outdoorsy. Today we started a trial of one of our new projects in school which Becci is pioneering. We attended a Food Poverty Alliance meeting a few weeks ago where we heard that some of the biggest users of food banks and other services are young, single men. With that in mind we wanted to create a new programme which would potentially get young lads excited about cooking and we thought fire would be the perfect way to do that. So today we had a group of year 9 lads come and learn how to make a fire and then we made popcorn and hot chocolate. 

I love how varied my job is. This morning I was filming Year 7s for our transition work which starts later this month, then onto cooking with fire and now I'm trying to create recipes for tomorrow's Food Club with ingredients including a whole load of eggs and various vegetables.
