Gift of thanks

From one nurse to another for a colleague’s valued support over a tough 3 year period.
The receiver is my daughter, a very committed NHS nurse who has been forced to demote herself from Sister to Staff Nurse grade in order to have the flexibility to earn more money to support herself and her two children.
The NHS have lost her management skills and expertise as a highly regarded Sister. For her it came down to accountants not paying enhanced pay for Sisters on weekend duty. However, instead they pay agency nurses higher rates of pay. No disrespect to agency nurses but the NHS is spending 1.5 billion pounds a year on agency nurses whilst people like my daughter are making tough choices because she can’t afford to live on her salary.
