Agapanthus.....also known as the Lily of the Nile......
native to the Cape of Good Hope area, in South Africa......

are also growing in planters/ troughs, along the main street in our village....

tall, single blooms...with large flowering heads, .....either in blue.....or white....

Remarkably, they seem to flourish..... and are in no way broken or damaged by the wind, or by pedestrians
