Father's Day
Officially Ascension Day & a public holiday throughout Germany. Most will simply say it is Father's day and the press will be full of stories of the adventures of groups of men on foot & all forms of wheels, touring the countryside with copious amounts of beer in tow.
At last, spring has arrived to make it a near perfect day. I spent the time boiling & filtering old bee frames to get wax either to sell on to my beekeeping equipment supplier in exchange for new pre-formed foundation sheets or to use personally - my daughter & grandchildren particularly like to have some - for making candles or waxed fabric wraps to replace "cling film".
On the evening walk spotted MRS Farmer out with husband's Fendt Farmer collecting some fresh grass for the dairy cows she would also have had to milk by herself this evening. Hubby, if home, would be sleeping it off on the sofa.
I had planned to get the snow covered Alps in the shot - all happened so quickly & ended up that the only halfway suitable shot was when the mountains were directly behind the trailer.
PS Why do men get a full working day off as a holiday for Father's day (always a Thursday) while women get anyway "free" Mothering Sunday?
