The First Iris

Dear Diary,

Finally, the first iris is blooming in the garden.  What a slow start it has been this year.  Usually by this time the garden is full of these lovely flowers.  It did a fine job of catching the raindrops though.  Today I will try to come up with some way of securing St. Francis so he doesn't blow over again.  He was saved from breaking by the iris leaves which caught him quite nicely and broke his fall from the pedestal.  Looks like we are in for a few days of nice weather.  Hooray!  Maybe more flowers will open up now.
