I attended a funeral today, supporting my wife as she knew the old gentleman who had died as a friend of her family's.

The ceremony took place in the church where we were married, the lovely little church in Carlton, Bedfordshire, and it was a pleasure to be back there, to re-live the happy time that it was.

However, one of our guard of honour became a test pilot, was the first foreign pilot to fly the Stealth Fighter (F117) but then died while demonstrating a BAe Hawk at Bratislava in 1999,
