1st Mow
Time to mow out two of the three horse fields on our property. This one was well grazed and it was merely a case of taking off the buttercup flowers & the sorrel (dock). The field had been used all winter.
The other wetter field had much more broad-leaved weeds & needed about 5 loads whereas the same size first field didn't fill one.
The garden is generally looking like a Green militant activist's delight as our garden lawn tractor is still not sorted. Well, it is sorted in that the DIY store that sold it with a 5-year guarantee sent it to the manufacturer "Husqvarna" who now say the damage to the starter was caused by a stone (our fault) which has also severely damaged the cutter mechanism. I don't believe a word of it. The starter was damaged a year ago & then they did a temporary fix knowing it was not the full solution. The mower was used up until the end of the season without any problem with the cutters - and how a stone in the cutter can via a rubber belt damage the starter motor is beyond me.
Apparently, the cost of repair is more than a new one! They have offered us a new one at a small discount & the DIY store to their credit have said we can have one at half price & Angie then negotiated we could pay it in instalments.
Now have to wait for a new one to be shipped to the depot in Memmingen.
The bees are loving all the wildflowers. Angie does though always leave large sections where there are lots of flowers.
The old faithful John Deere is starting it's 55th season!
