Dogwood in Green

The no-longer-so-little dogwood by our back entry, late on a sunny, lovely, warm afternoon.  The day's main outing was to orthopedic surgeons in Springfield, who fixed Marylee up with a cast for her broken wrist, which extends to just above the elbow. The fracture is tiny, but close to a key ligament--the cast is designed to ensure the ligament remains properly attached during the healing process.  I found it fascinating to watch the cast being made--mainly of fiberglass, which comes in rolls of very fine netting (as wide as duck tape), in a good dozen colors (we chose blue). Each fiberglass roll comes in a small package; when opened it must be immediately wrapped around to form the cast, since it solidifies in 5-6 minutes.
