Lake Dunmore, Waterhouses RV Park, Vermont.
A short drive from Pownal to Waterhouses RV Park on the shores of Lake Dunmore. A very fine location on the shores of the lake, but is much busier than the other sites and the only site on the trip without full hookup. We have water and power but no direct sewer. This means a trip to the dump station to empty the waste which is OK but means being frugal with the water and disconnecting everything for the short journey to the dump station. We’ve been spoilt with the other sites.
The drive was very pleasant through green Vermont although we’d only been on the VT100 about 15 miles when we missed a right turn to Ludlow and ending up back in the 7 North having to go through numerous stop lights and many malls in Anytown USA.
Fortunately, to get to our next destination we can retrace our steps and travel some more of the VT100 which helps to alleviate the disappointment.
We stopped at the Vermont Country Store in Weston a “World Famous” place in a small village on the VT100. As well as lots of Vermont products it had many objects from the past: games, utensils, stuff we’d forgotten about as well as many samples to cheeses, pickles, dips, crackers, biscuits, fudge, cookies which rather took the edge off lunch!
All the sites before this one have been excellent. All different and all of a high standard run by friendly and helpful people with friendly guests, many of whom have huge “rigs” who are clearly here for the season. A couple of RVs had drop down sun decks complete with awning and many have slide outs to give more space. People have laid out temporary gardens and have baskets of flowers and all sorts of accoutrements to make their place a home from home.
Today’s blip is of Lake Dunmore from the site dock. As I say, it’s a fine outlook. The extra is the scene of the pond at Pine Hollows RV site, Pownal first thing before the fountain came on.
