ST MAGNUS AGAIN

850 years of Orkney weather has made a terrific sculpture of this red sandstone door post.

Can't visit Kirkwall without paying my respects to St Magnus or to Shearer's - my favourite shop in all the world where you can buy anything from wheelbarrows to exotic flours.

Commander P, an old curmudgeon friend of the Mouse wanted catapult elastic & we said, "Shearer's"... So off we went & when we got there the Commander said to the assistant, "You won't have this, but I'm looking for catapult elastic".

And the assistant replied, "Oh yes sir, would you be wanting the 5, 6, 7 or 8mm thickness?

Today was foul - it pissed down all day - first we went to Sheila Fleet's beautifully refurbished kirk in Tankerness for lunch. on to Kirkwall & then down to St Margaret's Hope for coffees & a good blether with the lovely Poppy. So good to see her!
