H Kew

Out on the overground, but not wombling free, to Kew. I’d never been - but now I have. OK, they’re kind of like the Botanics but bigger, so some parts are drawn out and less interesting. And their rock garden’s not so hot, but the herbaceous borders were more than a bit OK.  And there were glass artworks throughout by Dale Chihuly - the "world's most celebrated contemporary glass artist", apparently. Not that I can name any others, so it could be true. And the temperate glasshouse is rather lovely. The palm house needs a lick of paint, mind. There’s your review. We were there for hours.
Much later, after a nap and reviving beer we made our way to Brent to Behesht, a Persian restaurant, where we met F&H and ex-flatmate Alex. What a great place - it was like entering a middle eastern souk.  Terrific breads and Doogh. Yes, that’s right, Doogh. I was warned off it, but it was so terrific I ordered a large jug. Well, it was that or water, wasn't it.
