Climbers Traverse and Sphinx Ridge

A fantastic day out despite an only so-so forecast.
Out with FWG to help develop her scrambling skills. It's always a privilege to be part of someone's journey and to see them test themselves and develop. Last week we told the successful Mountain Leaders that passing assessment was only the start of their journey - today FWG embodied that spirit.
I'd forgotten what a splendid wander the Climbers Traverse is, and just how impressive Kern Knotts are up close. Sadly I'd also forgotten just how easy it is to miss Napes Needle... So a little footstep retracing was needed. We left threading the Needle for another day as time was pressing, and delicately traversed across to Sphinx Ridge. An exhilarating hour later we emerged just shy of the summit to this spectacular scene.
It's a long ankle testing slog off of Great Gable, but my oh my the view in every single direction never fails to amaze.
