Haggis Rock
This is the refuge stone on Witchcraig hill above the Korean war memorial in the hills near Bathgate. Taken a few here before. The refuge stone includes some numbered stones that are examples of the different types from all over central Scotland.
This one "H" is Haggis rock (greywacke) from the southern uplands. It's a conglomerate from some long lost ocean and is around 420 million years old, the Silurian period (no, not the Dr Who creatures!) . It looks innocuous, but still gives a little thrill to touch it and know.
