Boston street scene
It took the best part of the day to rid ourselves of the RV and get to Boston. Little did we anticipate how the day would end. We left the final campsite on a dank morning at 10.00 determined not to let the sat nav take us along the I90 toll road. We were successful, staying on the 20 TIL we reached the RV site. There we waited for over an hour while there were negotiations between the agent and her manager and awaiting a decision on compensation. All the information and photos we’d sent had to be repeated.
In the end they offered us a refund of 2 days rental, which I though was a paltry offer given we were without the rear bed for half the time, together with the other issues and all the time and impact it had on our trip. The upshot is that we’ve to battle it out with Cruise America’s Customer Relations Department.
All this meant we missed the train back into Boston having to wait a further 75 minutes at the station. Mind you, the Uber from the site to the station was flawless.
We called in for a very late lunch at Tatte, outside South Station where as well as good food we had the best tasting coffee this side of our favourite coffee at Leah’s Bistro in Maidstone. Even the decaf was full of flavour.
A rush hour bus to the airport, cases dropped and an hour to relax before boarding and departure. It’s over 6 hours to San Diego.
Spectacular views of Boston as we took off, we were able to look out over the city skyline from Seaport where we were staying all along the harbour to the USS Constitution and the Bunker Hill Monument. A good flight, landing early, everything worked well, picked up the car and drove to the Airbnb where we couldn’t get it. For whatever reason, the keysafe code would not work.
By this time it was 00.30am, 03.30am in Boston) called and texted owner, no answer, went to three hotels, all full. Eventually called found a hotel with Chris’s help, got in and got to bed at 03.00am. We’ll be more than interested to find out why we couldn’t get it.
