What a strange morning
When I was walking from the carpark to the office, I couldn't believe my eyes, there was a chicken standing in the road right outside my office, in the middle of Yarmouth. There are no farms nearby and hardly any houses here have large enough gardens for chickens. Where had she come from? A couple of people were watching and worried that she'd get run over (lucky it's a quiet road and there were no cars about). I quickly dropped my bags in the office and then set about catching the hen. It wasn't too hard (I've had plenty of experience having grown up on a farm), so she was soon safe in my arms and even gave me a peck for thanks. Someone told me of a house that had chickens but the home owner said it wasn't one of hers as hers were black and white. So there was nothing for it, I made her a home in an old box, gave her some water, and managed to get some food from the pet shop. She was very thin and obviously starving as she gobbled down the food. We rang a few gossipspeople in the town and posted on Facebook but no one came forward to claim the hen. Then we had a client call who owns a farm. She said that she would take the hen and keep it near her chickens but in a separate run in case someone claimed her. If no one claims the hen she will move in with the other chickens. So it was a happy ending. Now Henny is at her new home.
