Old custom Taylor
The New Customs or Taylor Customs was the first large volume public building built in Buenos Aires and also the first major landfill completed on land reclaimed from the River Plate. Inspired by the notorious thrust of the port of Buenos Aires and a symbol of Buenos Aires economic power, customs began construction in 1855 and was inaugurated in 1857. It was located opposite the river, behind the Government House, and was projected by the engineer Edward Taylor.
After only 37 years of life it was demolished in 1894 to give place to the works of Puerto Madero and its place is currently occupied by Parque Colón.
