Long day and best day by far.
Left at 8am on a 2 hour drive south towards the Mekong Delta. Visited the Vinh Trang Pagoda on the way, where we saw a gigantic white super happy Buddha statue. We then drove to My Tho where we got on a boat ride. The boat took us down the Mekong River and then off down one of the streams. We stopped by local businesses such as brick making and a coconut workshop (you can even get chips out of coconuts), where we sat down around a tiny coffee table and had some local fruits n green tea. They eat their watermelons and pineapples with chili flakes to kill the sweetness, interesting flavor. We went on to a family that produced straw carpets where my mom decided to have a go, both the locals n tourists found it quite amusing. Then went on top of a carriage on a motorbike that drove us through the local village, was quite bumpy and had palm tree leaves whacking us in the head ever so often but lots of fun. We got off and started walking through stone pathways in between houses where I came across this little man. He was playing alone in a black muddy swamp. He was so entertained by the mud that he didn't even notice we were passing. After crossing over tiny bridges, walking through what seemed like a jungle to me, we reached a local restaurant where we were served a feast and got to try the famous elephant's ear fish. One of the waitresses was literally half my size so people thought it would be fun to take a picture, I really am quite tall... We took another gondola type boat through the smaller streams, it was quite an amazing experience. On the ride home we stopped by a snake farm that also included a zoo. Got to see pythons and cobras as well as baboons and bears. Baboons act more human than I would've thought...
