Grubby pump!

In all the years I’ve been walking the “river” route the pump house has never been open but today it was. This extracts water from the river to feed various outlets around the fields so that irrigation can take place where needed.
I’m surprised that it doesn’t seem to be better maintained but perhaps it’s a case of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. There does howeve seem to be a surplus of grease about....
