By The People (BTP)
BTP is an international arts and dialogue festival, now in its 2nd year, which takes places across the city of Washington D.C. for two weeks. It brings together art, performing art and dialogue in events that are completely free and open to the public, with a new curator each year interpreting the festival's founding themes: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -- with a bend to encourage a bit of activism :)
Today was the opening and I went to one location to check out the activities. Featured on my pic is Kahlil Joseph's conceptual piece "BLKNWS", a two-channel video broadcast that blurs the lines between art, journalism, entrepreneurship and cultural critique, using existing footage, filmed news desk segments, still images and music. The piece was interesting and the building in which it took place even more so :)
oh, and while I was there, a local news station was interviewing people, ahead of the elections in 2020, about what concerns us, what we expect, and what meaning 'life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness' holds at the moment... So I got my 15 seconds of fame (see extra)!
Tomorrow, I'll go check out another location for BTP :)
