Traditional Tiree Thatched House

There are only a few of them left on the island these days.  They have very thick walls and were built with their backs to the wind and their faces to the sun due to the extreme weather conditions on the island.  

Our holiday is now coming to end but we have had a wonderful time.  The island is so very beautiful - I've seen some amazing beaches, beautiful turquoise seas and ate some delicious food as well as meeting some very friendly local people.  Tourism is very understated.  Well worth the long journey to get here.
