Granada then road trip
Backblip
Today we were hitting the road again, and felt quite sad to leave this pretty apartment fitted out to the highest of standards, probably one of the finest Airbnb we’ve stayed in.
We packed up, doesn’t take long to pack one suitcase and a small pull along and headed out for A last wander. We went back to the breakfast spot - Duran - we went yesterday for coffee only this time and were treated to coffee’s on the house - maybe cos we praised them so highly yesterday!
There was an art, craft and book fair taking place in the large Plaza Bib-Rambla (that has a lovely baroque fountain dominating it) so had a look at some of the stalls and saw some lovely pieces that if been at home would have bought them. What a lovely morning for a wander and a lovely chilled atmosphere.
a taxi was booked for 1230 to take us to the car hire place on the outskirts of Granada and it arrived promptly and quietly (electric)!
Wasn’t long we were on our way down the motorway heading for the next stop, a restored Andalusian farmhouse a two hour drive from Granada in the countryside near Alcalá del Valle. It looked stunning when I booked it on line but to see it in real life we saw we had struck gold for this two night chill out accommodation. We were met by Miranda and Hans, the Dutch couple that own and run it along with their beautiful Swiss Shepherd Dog, Sam. We sat in the courtyard with a glass of chilled wine and were told that we were upgraded to the Superior room (first time ever)! There are only five rooms and after been shown round our accommodation we were beaming with joy, it was like a five star boutique hotel (not that I have stayed in one LOL)!
Unpacked, read a book in one of the outdoor quiet areas looking over the countryside and lazed around till we went out to one of the local villages for a superb meal. I must say we have eaten so well so far and we have still 10 days to go ! Happy Days
