Midsummer

Here we are on what is officially midsummer’s day. Today is the longest day of the year, with a very early dawn and a late dusk.
Happily there’s still plenty of summertime yet to come though. This pale haze of grey-blue in the countryside near a rural roadside is a lavender field just starting to come into flower.
It will be another three weeks or so before the vibrant lavender-blue reaches its peak, and that will look and feel much more like the real midsummer.
