Friday: Summer Solstice Sunset
We were up early this morning. MrD went to Buxton on his motorbike. Weather gorgeous all day, cloudy at times which was fine for me, I spent all day gardening.
Cleared the deep bed near the compost bins the chard and kale were like small trees! Last year’s runner beans have survived the winter and are starting to send up new shoots so I covered the whole bed with a layer of compost planted small chard plants and more scarlet runner beans also sowed seeds: carrots, Florence fennel, lambs lettuce, kohlrabi ...
Also sorted the pots behind the house and planted up a large pot with Geraniums, lobelia and Mexican daisies and a spirea in the centre.
Exhausted by time MrD arrived home.
Had a quick walk to take a photo of the sunset. Welsh for Summer Solstice is “Hirddydd Hâf” learnt this from Aled Hughes radio programme this morning.
Goodnight all x
