Sun tan
Sun tan; something I do easily, without trying. The old man can't.
Two telling offs today...
1. A local told us we would see hatchling turtles if we walked the beach around 6am. Excited, we got there early, even walking in partial light. We saw several turtle tracks, where the mother pulls herself from the sea and up the beach to dig a nest and lay her eggs. No babies though. UNESCO happened upon us. They were charting and marking the nests and told us it was illegal for the public to access the beach before 7am. People have been known to mess with nests, turtles, tracks and the babies. Of course, we totally understood!
2. We took a Pedalo out with strict instructions not to go beyond the distant buoys. Unknowingly, we drifted way beyond the buoys. It was so beautiful. We sat back, enjoyed the view and watched another massive turtle swim. Somehow, we drifted a long, long way and were alarmed when neither of us could see any buoys.
Before we knew it, Zorba the Greek was fast approaching us on his speed boat! He gave us such a talking to (understandably)
We got quite a workout pedalling back to the beach, tail between our legs.
