today i learned that one of my dad's carers had succumbed to colon cancer. Barbara was a wonderful woman - someone every one of us would be grateful to have help look after a parent.  she lived in Ladysmith SA and came over to the UK to care for elderly people.  she was marvellous, kind, and really made a difference.  

she leaves behind her husband Gavin, her daughter, and her sister Margie, and many friends.
they will have given her the best love and i have shed quite a few tears today because she was such a maternal presence when things were tough.
i am very pleased that Gavin and Barbara enjoyed some time together here, at Oswald.
