Finchale Priory.

Had a heavy week this week. I have a gift and card shop where I also make personalised cards to order.I had an order of 80 baptism cards to make in three days (why do people leave things to the last minute), along with all the other day to day orders, so by closing time today I was shattered. My husband suggested a trip out to Finchale Priory which was just what I needed. The peace was wonderful, with the only sounds being those of the birds. In 1196 Finchale Priory had 8 monks. It served as a rest place for the monks of Durham, 4 at a time, where they spent 3 weeks having more freedom than they usually enjoyed.It continued as a priory until 1535.
