Yep. Basketball!

How could we not make one of Nik’s BBall tournament games while we are here?   So H and I drive to Bellevue across Lake Washington to a gorgeous high school gym,.. ( there was a fabulous solstice parade here in town).  A good time to chat more with the parents and Oskar (who loved the Abe Lincoln bookends, thinks they’re “trophies” and set them out on the basketball court in their yard this morning to oversee them shooting baskets….. he was pleased with last night’s promotion to 9th grade…thanks to you for all the lovely comments..)   Then after about 6 minutes of watching Nik’s team, we are looking at each other  and wondering “OMG ,what team is this?  They are playing like a TEAM! and they’ve gotten SO GOOD!   Hard to believe it was the same as all those painful games we’ve  watched them lose.     A lot of  playing with a good coach has payed off, I guess.   They easily took this other private high school team 80-32.   I think  we may have to go to the final tomorrow!   The blip, one of many shots for 3,  showing most of the kids, and #23 who actually pulled off some great dunks.   Extra, the 6’5’ kid who also can’t believe ‘Hale” is doing so well right now.    it’ll take more than that donut to put any beef on him, however!  

4 more days of school, just marking time.  We went to visit the granddaughters house and Maple got so excited when she saw us across the street, she was ready to jump in the car to come to the island,   But she’ll be there in a week!   We’re back there on Monday.
