The Bridges of Calgary City

If cities are to be judged by their bridges, then Calgary has some way to go.

The much admired Peace Bridge (and possibly The Centre Street Bridge) excepted, Calgary is marked by a series of rather, at best understated or, as in this case, rather ugly bridges.

This particular bridge bears the weight of the trans Canada Railway as it steers 8th Avenue from the North side of the tracks to the south. Most of the other bridges that serve to connect the city across the railway are in a similar state of unsightliness.

More to come in this series.
