Gently down the stream

Race to the King

I'd completely forgotten about it, but Race to the King finished in Winchester today.

It's a 53 mile ultra-marathon that begins to the east of Arundel and is routed along the South Downs Way to its end outside Winchester Cathedral.  Some people take one day to do it, some two, the majority run, others walk.  I saw competitors arriving looking cool, glamorous and as though they'd hardly run for a bus, but I'm posting this lot because - just about to cross the finish line - they really showed the pain.  The lady in the middle was almost being carried, and I thought the man in the middle, if not both men, were probably their fitness minders?  But I honestly don't know.  They certainly ran a lot of the way at least because this was the middle of the day and walkers weren't due in until between 5-7pm.

Goodness, don't you have to salute the foursome's bravery!

Happy Sunday evening, dear peeps  xx
