Oh Happy Day!

This is moth mullein. It is probably my favorite wildflower. There is very little of it anywhere on our property, and the one place I often find it is the area I call "the bottom" - down at the bottom of the driveway - which I mow about every other week. The trick is to not mow it, but of course the trick is to recognize it before it flowers so that one can avoid mowing it. Last year I didn't see any at all and I was very afraid I had mown it all down and there'd never be anymore! I've tried to sprinkle its seeds around in years past with absolutely no success. SO, imagine my joy when I found this one plant while mowing this morning. Yay!
