Crossing the Swing Bridge

Today the 9 walkers in the walking group parked at Albert Town, walked across the swing bridge and along the Hawea River to Camphill Road, where the Hawea Whitewater Surfing Course is.  No surfers there today, as the river was running high.

The extras missed the cut.  No 1.  Crossing the swing bridge, and (2)  a sign at the beginning of the bridge.  Now we know what will happen when there are 11 people crossing at once!

We had a welcome cuppa at a local cafe before heading for home.

Albert Town was named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband, in about 1858.  Camphill is the name of a nearby property belonging to Bert Butterfield, an early Hawea Flat settler.
