Ptarmigan

I was really pleased to see and be able to photograph this Ptarmigan pair while at work today. I haven't seen them for a few years and thought they had gone but today I spotted them in a different place. I think the male has the red eye stripe and not the female.

I really thought I was going to blip some of the trucks working today but I have put it in extras instead. Be aware each of these lorries weighs 100 tonnes and can carry 100 tonnes of stone. If I were standing beside one I cannot reach the hubcaps. A landrover would be dwarfed in this shot and is not allowed on the same track as these monsters for fear they would run it over. The scale of things is hard to imagine and difficult even when you see them for real.
