The Ashton Memorial - Lancaster

Playing Blip catch-up at the moment.

This is a Grade 1 listed Memorial. It was commissioned by Lord Ashton as a tribute to his wife. It was designed by John  Belcher and completed in 1909. It is situated in Williamson Park where there is a great, but  hilly,  Parkrun on Saturday mornings. I arrived early for the run and took this photo before most people arrived. The run starts behind the Memorial. I am told that they do extra special park runs on Christmas Day and New Year's Day and I was invited to come along. Well, that's my Xmas sorted!

The park also has a butterfly house. I haven't been in there for years, but maybe I will pay it a visit next time I am in the park.
