They used the same formula that was used for Bohemian Rhapsody, but put it in musical format.
Very dark. If it wasn't for the music I would have gnawed through my wrist by the end of the movie. No feel-good-movie moments.
I got the idea that they accepted everyone knew Elton John's life story and just picked depressing bits to act out to fit in with the chosen music.
