Echoes of the Mountains

Daphne mezereum, in fruit now in the garden.  I'll be collecting the berries soon or the birds will have them.  It flowers in early spring, March here but soon after snowmelt in the mountains.  The insert is a picture taken two weeks ago today when I was out walking with Hilary and Hibou.

A cold, dull day here, much better for gardening than the recent heat.  despite feeling a little under the weather myself I got a fair bit done outside.  Seedlings planted out and the brown bin filled with weeds and trimmings from next door's exuberant shrubbery which threatens to engulf my greenhouse!
