Port of Mobile, Alabama

Mobile is in all aspects not a small and not a big port. It's a little bit in the middle I guess. True; it has dry-dock facilities, container gantry cranes and even a passenger terminal building, but it is all middle sized scaled. On the picture you can see the Carnival passenger ship 'Holiday'. Even this ship is medium sized. Carnival considers this vessel as a beginners cruise ship. With her launching year of 1985 she is Carnival's oldest ship. Her capacity is 1400 passengers. The awful red funnel is a so called 'whale tail' funnel. I wrote it before; first generation passengers ship captains would start to cry if they only could see these funnels.
