Quite possibly Cyclamen

I was given this plant at Christmas by my Mum and I think it's a cyclamen. If it is then it's interesting (to me anyway) that in many languages cyclamen species are colloquially called by a name like the English sowbread, because they are said to be eaten by pigs - pain de pourceau in French, pan porcino in Italian, varkensbrood in Dutch, pigs' manju in Japanese. If it's not a cyclamen then forget I said all that.

What a gloomy day it's been. Apart from a wet walk with the dogs and a Sainsbury's run I've been holed up indoors and I'm starting to get a bit of cabin fever now.
