Moon

At last we made it to the Natural History Museum in London to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.  Every year we seem to visit later and later in its run.  Today was our last opportunity before it closes on Sunday.

As usual it was a stunning exhibition. The layour and presentation of the images, on the usual backlit screens in a darkened room, is excellent.  The standard of photography - technically and artistically - is outstanding. And the  portrayal of the natural world is stunning with amazing scenes of creatures of all kinds - land, sea and air, urban and rural, from all parts of the world.  I'm so glad we didn't miss it.

Before leaving the museum we took a look at the "Museum of the Moon" - this impressive art work, a massive model of the moon suspended from the ceiling of the Jerwood Gallery.

As the day was gloriously sunny and warm (has summer arrived at last?) we then took a stroll through Hyde Park, stopping for some lunch, before continuing to Hyde Park Corner, across Green Park, through the Royal Academy and stopping again at a table outside a restaurant just north of the RA for a pleasant glass of wine while watching the world go by.

We were rather tired and footsore by the time we got home.
