Sagrada Familia...my all-time favourite

Serenity. Transcendence. Holiness.

I have never seen such incredibly beautiful and enormous art. It is beyond description and comparison. Gaudi immediately becomes my idol.

The structures inside the cathedral are organic and complementary to each other. At a glance, it looks like structures coming from outer space. From what I know, Gaudi developed deep interest in the nature, and was observant of curves, shapes and layers. He then put many of these natural elements into his work. The columns in the Cathedral are all slightly curved. And he ingeniously applied inverted modeling method to find perfect curves to support the gigantic structure.

He contributed his last years in the early 20th century, fully devoted to the construction of the Sagrada Familia. Knowing that he couldn't see the whole cathedral in her completion, he built one facade for the successors to follow, and then he died unfortunately due to a car accident.

The cathedral is expected to finish in 2026. Hopefully I will come back to Barcelona again to see it, and of course visit bb and dd :D
