Bailey?

We took a short cruise on the Great Ouse today, using an electric boat hired at the Danish Camp.  It was very slow, not helped by the low state of charge of the boat's battery in the context of quite strong headwinds when we were trying to return downstream.  I had to paddle part of the way – and all for £30 an hour!

We passed under this strange structure which hinted at a Bailey Bridge of decades ago.  It wasn't, of course: it was a bridge connecting the nearby gravel pits with the main road, and there is no metalled surface to the roadway, on or off the bridge.  Somehow its archaic design didn't jar with the pleasant countryside around it.

The mono Extra is the water and the bank.  The water was quite clear so we could see the underwater vegetation . . . and the incredibly slow rotation of our propeller.
