Mound
Today we decided on a more country walk. We set off to find a lake in a disused quarry. We found the quarry, but no water. But it was still lovely. We then went up to one of the four mounds around Krakow. It is a national monument, celebrating General Kosciuszki, a national hero, who fought for Poland - and for the Americans in their revolution. The mound stands 35 metres high, and has a spiral path to climb it. It is on a hill, 131 metres above the Vistula.
We did 16000 steps, with quite a climb, part of which is the avenue here on the way up - but really enjoyed it - and the views from the top (see extra) was spectacular. The final extra is a tiny church we passed on the way back, Kaplica Sw Mawgorzaty.
