When students have telephoto lenses we sometimes take them to Dalemain in the hope that the fallow deer will be at the bottom end of fellside beside the car park.

We weren't disappointed.The bucks were in a batchelor herd within sight. Lovely to see them in velvet. The does will be elsewhere, either waiting to fawn or with their newborn fawns.

A really good day with the students and a barbeque in the evening with The Mate joining us for the night. The Man's work at the lodge had gone smoothly. He met the incoming visitors who were delighted with the accommodation. He was home in time to get the barbeque lit before we arrived and the evening stayed dry just long enough for us to eat outdoors.
