Lazy Sunday Afternoon
Rezillos t-shirt selected today which went unremarked upon until I met Jo Callis’s music publisher loitering outside some lavvies. How’s about that, eh?
The day started with a lounge in the sun down at the Park Stage listening to Jessie Buckley - she sings well, that lassie, and who can resist a bit of Gram Parsons? Then on, via the Pier to the Pyramid to see Kylie. Ye gods but it was busy. Hellishly busy. Still, she duetted with Nick Cave and the boy Martin was pressed into appearing too. By then we’d moved to near an exit and shortly thereafter took it. Then a couple of really delightful hours, sitting in the sun beside the acoustic tent with our backs against the fence, where all the fellow oldies had gathered to listen to some Beatles covers band. Haha terrific. And then the high point of the day - Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip at the Summer House. Clearly passive smoking has its dangers, kids. I nearly fell down; helpless with laughter, I was.
Then Bananarama down at Avalon. Cool Summer indeed. And finally Christine and the Queens.
Well, that’s certainly filled a few memory cells or replaced short term memory or whatever. A cracking few days, from the wide eyed excitement of arriving to the totally relaxed atmosphere on the Sunday afternoon it was quite a journey. I feel like a vet now. Ahoy, me Edinburgh hearties, the pub bore returns!
