Nutmeg.
Ok, I'm a little behind in my blog postings. But no matter.

We took a tour of a couple of spice farms on Zanzibar. Yes, it was touristy, but interesting. They can grow just about every spice, and every fruit here. Vanilla, cardamom, pepper, salt (kidding). The photo shows the nut which is ground into nutmeg. The red filamentous covering is made into mace.

In addition to being a spice, we were told, mace is good for improving ladies' shyness. Too much can be intoxicating! Also, it improves libido, or performance. Ginger does the same for men. Viagra, watch out!

An interesting book about this is "Nathaniel's Nutmeg", although I read it so long ago that I really can't remember amy specifics.
