Purple Hairstreak
Sometimes you just get lucky. At this time of year I spend a lot of time looking towards the tops of oak trees where the purple hairstreaks feed off honeydew. Occasionally one or two will zoom past at eye level but today I found a recently emerged one at ground level and with its wings open showing the upper purple surface. I took the shot then realised the blade of grass was in the way but by the time I moved to the left to get a clean view the Hairstreak had gone.
