Chiantishire
To another hill top fortified town. They are all very delightful and hot and full of sunny vignettes. In Monteriggioni. There isn’t a museum of torture (see yesterday) but you can try on a suit of armour and imagine you are a medieval warrior fighting off the advancing Florentines. Nowadays more likely to be battling against the rising tide of middle class Brits taking over the Chianti hills around here.
So it was onward to Rada in Chianti to see for ourselves what this Hooray Paradise actually looks like. And it is indeed very pretty. Complete with a Knight Frank estate agents shop in the tiny high street sandwiched between the church and the old town hall. Perhaps the UK real estate agencies will be added to the guide books as a must see feature in the historic centres.
Also there was a wonderful grocers shop where we stocked up on tasty treats. Delicious olives and prosciutto. There seems to be a need to put loads of salt in the deli items, in this case the tuna stuffed peppers. Wow they do like their sodium chloride.
Watched the lionesses get knocked out off the world cup. Shame but I thought that USA were the better team. It’s been an interesting tournament.
