Petals, Leaves and Bumble Bees
I woke early this morning to take A to the airport to catch a plane for her weeks holiday with a uni friend in Berlin. She was a little reluctant to go and leave all the work on the house for a week but it's been planned for ages and I think it will do her the world of good to have a break.
After I got back I went back to bed for an hour's snooze which was lovely, then it was time to head to church.
This afternoon C and I walked along the cycle path to Roseburn then down to the Water of Leith and along to the Gallery of Modern Art, Gallery One. The river was at a much more normal level than it was last week after the deluge.
We enjoyed looking at some of the entries in the annual art competition for schoolchildren. They had over 8600 entries from all age groups across Scotland. I particularly liked this one which got 3rd prize in the nursery age-group. The subject for that age group was as my title -Petals, Leaves and Bumble Bees!. I loved these cheery wee bees and the honey comb effect. The pictures were all of a really high standard and well worth a visit. They will be on show outside the shop in Gallery One until 22nd September then they are off to Glasgow Concert Hall until 2nd January ending up in Borders General Hospital from 8th January till 30th April.
Steps today 20539, what a waste, it's my day off!
