The Last Post

After 105 years of operation,  the main Post Office in Northumberland Street closed its doors to the public yesterday. 

I remember the days when they used to have a 2:00 am collection and I have once or twice nipped over in the early hours to  post a last-minute birthday card for local delivery the same morning.

Work is ongoing to create a new post office, delicatessen and cafe in the town centre but the new premises are still very much a construction site.

Almost a blip snap with Romay who was here yesterday!
